Outline
What is Work Positive?
Work Positive is a risk assessment tool for hazards that can cause stress in the workplace. It allows organisations to see what works and also pinpoint potential hazards to be addressed in consultation with staff.
Why use it?
- It is based on valid and reliable evidence and is the Health and Safety Authority’s tool of choice for minimizing stress in the workplace
- It’s FREE, involves no software downloads, takes 20 minutes to complete and gives instant results
- Helps you identify risk areas across your work force and to bench mark against other organisations
- Facilitates staff participation so they perceive themselves to be agents of change rather than objects of change
- Supports your organisation in complying with health and safety legislation
- Allows you to identify additional tools that can help create a happy, healthy and productive workforce
- Raises awareness in employees who may need additional support for their well being
What does it measure?
- Demands – this includes issues such as workload, work patterns and the work environment
- Control – how much say the person has in the way they do their work
- Support – this includes the encouragement and resources provided by the organisation, line management and colleagues
- Relationships – this includes promoting positive working to avoid conflict and dealing with unacceptable behaviour
- Role – whether people understand their role within the organisation and whether the organisation ensures that they do not have conflicting roles
- Change – how organisational change (large or small) is managed and communicated in the organisation
- Well-being through the addition of the World Health Organisation’s WHO-Five Wellbeing Index (WHO-5)
